CAMP FACILITIES: At 200 feet, the Oliver Hazard Perry is the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years. It is the largest civilian sail training vessel in America. She has berths for 49 people overnight, and with 17 crew, a low camper to crew ratio creates a safe and fun environment. The ship is equipped with a steel hull, 3 masts, with square sails on all three masts, 20 sails totaling 14,000 square feet, and 7 miles of rope and wire. The engines run on a bio-diesel blend, and the ship is equipped with a modern galley (on-board kitchen), central air, an on-deck science lab, a library and wheel-chair accessibility above and below decks.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With 17 professional crew and a capacity for 30-34 campers, our program promotes a dynamic and safe learning environment with a 2:1 ratio of campers to instructors. Campers will feel the thrill of steering a 500-ton ship, and learn to work the yards and sails while exploring the beautiful coasts of New England. They will learn safety at sea and perform important safety drills while acquiring skills in navigation, seamanship, sail handling, knots, and the language of the boat. Campers will explore the underwater world through snorkeling. They will understand wind, waves, tides and the ecology of sandy and rocky seashores. Sunsets, sunrises and the night sky will serve as the backdrop for this incredible experience, in addition to marine phosphorescence, dolphins and whales. Teamwork is an integral part of success onboard the boat, and in addition to learning about themselves, and achieving things they never imagined, they will make friendships to last a lifetime.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: In addition to witnessing the natural magic of the ocean and its inhabitants, each student crew will make friendships to last a lifetime. Campers will take responsibility for themselves and their fellow shipmates, learning to work as a team with others as they hoist and brace the yards on the ship's 130-foot tall rig and apply acquired navigational skills to guide the ship's course on a voyage of discovery.

CAMP FACILITIES: Schodack is nestled in a picturesque wooded valley in the foothills of the Berkshires, our beautiful campus of flat, grassy playing fields is surrounded by acres of our own stunning, private forest. Little Notch connects girls of diverse backgrounds with each other, positive mentors, and the land. We strive to bring together a diverse staff. All applicants are thoroughly screened and participate in comprehensive pre-camp training and orientation. The ratio of counselors to campers is one counselor to every six campers ages 7 and 8, and one counselor to every eight campers age 9 and above. All Camp Little Notch staff are certified in first aid. Waterfront and boating staff are certified lifeguards and ropes course staff are certified in belay. A registered nurse, or other licensed medical professional, oversees the health and safety of campers and staff on site.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Campers start their morning at 7:30 am giving them time to dress and any personal care before going to the dining hall to enjoy breakfast. At all meals, the campers, staff and volunteers work together to set the table, serve the food family style, and end the meal by cleaning and putting away the dishes. After breakfast, "kapers" are next. Kapers are community responsibilities throughout the camp. The campers then enjoy many fun-filled, camper-planned activities. The campers enjoy staying busy throughout the morning with programs such as hiking, boating, swimming, games, and arts & crafts. SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Our summer camp is only as good as the staff it hires. That is why we search the globe for the most experienced and enthusiastic staff members we can find. From England to Australia and California to Maine, our staff consists of about fifteen different nations and over twenty states. Everyone comes together with one goal in mind; to make sure our campers have the best summer of their lives!

We are looking for general counselors, specialist counselors, leadership positions, and support staff for the upcoming summer. General counselors spend the day with their division of campers; guiding, supporting, and supervising them as they go from activity to activity.

As a specialist, you concentrate on a specific area, passing on your knowledge to our campers to ensure they are learning or mastering that skill. The leadership roles we fill each summer range from department heads and group leaders to medical staff and office assistants. Lastly, our support staff members work behind the scenes as kitchen staff, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, and housekeepers to ensure the day to day operations of camp are handled.

Camp SAY was established with one goal in mind – to provide children who stutter with a highly immersive and accepting summer camp experience that builds self-confidence and helps children develop the vital communication skills they need to fully express themselves without fear, bullying or ridicule.

Complementing our wide range of exciting traditional camp activities, Camp SAY provides each child with unique experiences that challenge them in a safe way, creating a strong sense of achievement and helping them confidently navigate the unique issues that children who stutter face in the everyday world.

STAFF
The staff is dedicated to creating a safe and accepting environment where every child can find their beautiful and unique voice. Approximately 80% of children return to camp. Parents and campers tell us it’s our staff and unique approach that consistently exceed expectations, making Camp SAY such a rewarding and transformative experience.

We provide an excellent Staff-to-Camper Ratio: With Camp’s leadership team, camp counselors, specialized activities staff and more, our staff-to-camper ratio is 1 staff member for every 2-3 campers. In addition, each bunk is staffed at night with at least 2 counselors for an average of 6-10 campers.

Counselors complete a comprehensive training program to support the social, emotional and physical needs of all our campers. Staff development includes leadership training and extensive information about stuttering, camper health and safety, camp philosophy, policies and procedures and much more. Additionally, Specialized Activities Staff is carefully selected based on their skills and expertise.

Talented Nursing Team: Your child’s safety and well being is our highest priority. Our camp is staffed by a full-time, on-site registered nurse who can properly dispense any family-provided medications and can access medical specialists as needed.

Traveling to Camp SAY: Campers come from all around the country and abroad. We work closely with families to make each child’s trip to Camp SAY as safe and enjoyable as possible. We schedule a chaperoned flight from the southeast to New York City. Children taking individual flights are welcomed at the gate by camp staff. Upon arrival at the airport, camp staff helps navigate baggage claim, arrange check-in for return flights, and board campers on the bus for a fun trip to Camp SAY.

Our Personalized Approach: In order to fully personalize your child’s camp experience, our team obtains detailed preferences in advance of camp from you and your child – from their activities to seemingly small yet important details. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. This week-long sleep-away program is designed to be a fun and transforming experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. YEA Camp New York will have two concurrent sessions! One session for teens with a variety of causes, and for the first time ever, a separate session for teens interested in animal activism (and what better location than a Farm Animal Sanctuary!).

Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues. Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 25th Annual Fredonia Summer Music Festival has a long history of providing high school students (grades 9 - 12) with a friendly and relaxed setting for musical growth. Set on the beautiful campus of The State University of New York at Fredonia and housed in the university's School of Music, the Fredonia Summer Music Festival takes advantage of the campus' first-rate facilities and world-class teachers. Many of the festival faculty are also professors at the university. Outstanding performers and teachers provide unique opportunities for learning, improving technical skills and expanding musicality.

This year, the Festival continues its tradition of excellence while expanding to include a new Honors Solo Vocal Camp for students interested in further developing their skills as a solo classical vocalist. The Band Camp is open to instrumental music students (winds, brass, and percussion) with performance opportunities in large ensembles, chamber music, jazz and more. Students in both camps will attend daily musicianship classes, participate in master classes, attend special evening performances, and have time for individual practice and recreation. The Rochester Soccer Camp believes that the “game” is the best teacher and that philosophy is evident at our camp. Daily activities include individual ball skills, small-sided games, group tactics and learning through playing. Players will be placed on teams according to age, gender and ability to ensure that campers are comfortable within their group.
