A non-refundable Registration Fee of $50 must accompany each application. No audition is required to enroll. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Maximum enrollment: 150 students per session. Unique to this program: students are able to study more than one instrument or voice at no additional cost.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers attending Shankitunk for a week of summer fun will be assigned to one of our 15 rustic wooden cabins along the meadows edge. We have an outdoor swimming pool, low ropes course, basketball court, volleyball court, dining hall, craft hall, recreation pavilion, soccer field, archery range, Science Center, bathhouse with hot water and showers, maintenance shop, hiking trails, and river access for nature exploration.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: 4-H Camp Shankitunk is the oldest continuously operating 4-H camp in New York State. We first opened in 1927 as a vacation getaway for farm children in Delaware County, and have been providing a memorable experience for campers from all over the state and even other states ever since.

Our program has many rich traditions that have inspired grown campers to send their children back and even their grandchildren. Our chicken BBQ dinner, visit from the Delaware County Dairy Princess, closing candle ceremony, songs, class options, friendships, and flag salute are just a few. We hire a staff of approximately 40 each year, many of whom have been with us since they were old enough to attend Shankitunk themselves, but we love to welcome new faces into our camp family too. Imagine the fun you could have with us at Shankitunk this summer!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Shankitunk does offer a CIT program for campers age 14 and older who are interested in becoming future counselors. Campers complete level one in team-building, level two in communication and self reflection, and then attend a two week program where they devote all of their class time the first week to becoming a counselor and spend the second week shadowing a counselor to apply what they have learned. CAMP FACILITIES: The 4,000 square foot dance facilities house two modern air conditioned studios. Dressing rooms and showers are available. A deli is located in the same building as are vending food/beverage machines.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Four courses are available beginning with the Intermediate-2 level which offers two classes per day. Intermediate-3 includes a single Advanced/ Intermediate class which is integrated along with the Intermediate-2 schedule. Advanced Intermediate offers three classes daily while the Advanced level offers students four classes/day.

CAMP FACILITIES: At 200 feet, the Oliver Hazard Perry is the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years. It is the largest civilian sail training vessel in America. She has berths for 49 people overnight, and with 17 crew, a low camper to crew ratio creates a safe and fun environment. The ship is equipped with a steel hull, 3 masts, with square sails on all three masts, 20 sails totaling 14,000 square feet, and 7 miles of rope and wire. The engines run on a bio-diesel blend, and the ship is equipped with a modern galley (on-board kitchen), central air, an on-deck science lab, a library and wheel-chair accessibility above and below decks.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With 17 professional crew and a capacity for 30-34 campers, our program promotes a dynamic and safe learning environment with a 2:1 ratio of campers to instructors. Campers will feel the thrill of steering a 500-ton ship, and learn to work the yards and sails while exploring the beautiful coasts of New England. They will learn safety at sea and perform important safety drills while acquiring skills in navigation, seamanship, sail handling, knots, and the language of the boat. Campers will explore the underwater world through snorkeling. They will understand wind, waves, tides and the ecology of sandy and rocky seashores. Sunsets, sunrises and the night sky will serve as the backdrop for this incredible experience, in addition to marine phosphorescence, dolphins and whales. Teamwork is an integral part of success onboard the boat, and in addition to learning about themselves, and achieving things they never imagined, they will make friendships to last a lifetime.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: In addition to witnessing the natural magic of the ocean and its inhabitants, each student crew will make friendships to last a lifetime. Campers will take responsibility for themselves and their fellow shipmates, learning to work as a team with others as they hoist and brace the yards on the ship's 130-foot tall rig and apply acquired navigational skills to guide the ship's course on a voyage of discovery.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. This week-long sleep-away program is designed to be a fun and transforming experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. YEA Camp New York will have two concurrent sessions! One session for teens with a variety of causes, and for the first time ever, a separate session for teens interested in animal activism (and what better location than a Farm Animal Sanctuary!).

Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues. Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our facilities bring a little rustic charm to the camping experience. We embrace our location in the Adirondacks, and cherish the beauty if the outdoors in all that we do. Our campers stay in cabins until grade 8 and in platform tents through high school. We have a fabulous lake for swimming, boating and enjoying our water trampoline and slide. Campers who want to try new activities can have a try at our 30 ft high rock wall, our trapeze, or our zip line.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: One of the greatest programs at Camp Cedarbrook is our wilderness adventure trips, where campers can hike or canoe the great spacious outdoors the Adirondacks have to offer. Our trip programs challenge girls to push the limits of their physical abilities and have a great time doing it. Girls in high school can also take part in our Leadership Education and Development (LEAD)program or our Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program. Over a span of two summers, girls will learn to lead and guide young campers. The program is an opportunity for teens to learn responsibility, leadership and hard work.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leadership and Education Development (LEAD) and CILT (Campers in Leadership Training) are both a one summer leadership development program for high school girls. LEAD is first and for those wanting more training they can continue with CILT. There is an emphasis on supervised leadership training in a camp setting. It includes class sessions, Bible study, a wilderness trip, and lots of hands-on experience in leading girls. This program is for those interested in serving God and others through a leadership role.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We have parent daughter weekends that run in June for moms and daughters and for dads and daughters. These weekends allow girls to spend individual time with their Mom and Dad doing fun new things and learning to grow together in their spiritual walk with the Lord.

She is the proud recipient of three Backstage Magazine Reader's Choice Awards ("Favorite Acting Courses for Teens,") and a frequent choice in 'Best Summer Acting Programs for Teens." Professional film and television acting courses (involving the intimacy of the camera) combine with theater technique and discipline.

Four Summer Intensives (Weeks A, B, C, D) offer a concentration of Foundations work (Technique, tools, acting process) or Advanced On Camera work on acting for Television and Film, along with concentrated Audition Technique.

Campers can earn awards from Red cross swimming, NRA rifle, USA archery as well as a certificate in any activity area they choose. We have a broad range to cover many interests from crafts to creative arts to outdoor skills to target sport and horseback riding.

We have a one week outdoor adventure for girls-sleeping out in tents on our wooded property, cooking over the campfire while still being able to enjoy some activities in main camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer Program participants can be day students or live on campus and enjoy a full schedule that provides recreational activities on weekends and afternoons. Since 1990, the Summer Program has successfully combined not only academic enrichment and remediation, but also new experiences, opportunities and fun.

Admissions: The Gow School has a rolling admissions policy for its Summer Program. Personal interviews and tours of the campus are given throughout the year. Academics: The Gow School Summer Academic Program is a challenging and stimulating learning environment which provides students the opportunity to improve their academic skills. With an average class size of five students and individual attention from teachers, students achieve success in areas they never thought possible. Teachers use multi-sensory teaching strategies to reach students with different learning styles.

Florida Film Academy at Gow: During the Summer of 2015, The Gow School is pleased to offer a special afternoon Videography course presented by The Florida Film Academy. Classes will run from Monday, July 15th through Friday, July 19th from 2-5 pm.

Afternoon Activities: Each afternoon, Summer Program students participate in three Activity Instructional Clinics (AICs). AICs help students learn new skills and enjoy a full summer experience. During activity sessions, students are encouraged to participate to their level of comfort. Character building and teamwork abilities are emphasized. The AICs include traditional athletic activities such as basketball and capture the flag, along with non-traditional sports such as crab soccer and tennis softball. Other activities may include arts & crafts, hiking and biking. Specialized sessions such as archery and the low ropes courses are coached by trained supervisors.

Weekend Trips: Weekend trips are one of the many highlights of The Gow School Summer Program. Three overnight excursions are taken during the summer. These trips are not only fun and exciting, but also culturally and educationally rewarding. Experiences take advantage of local attractions, and range from camping trips to resort locations to museums and amusement parks.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 25th Annual Fredonia Summer Music Festival has a long history of providing high school students (grades 9 - 12) with a friendly and relaxed setting for musical growth. Set on the beautiful campus of The State University of New York at Fredonia and housed in the university's School of Music, the Fredonia Summer Music Festival takes advantage of the campus' first-rate facilities and world-class teachers. Many of the festival faculty are also professors at the university. YMCA Camp Weona offers both traditional and high adventure activities. Horseback riding through the forest, kayaking under the blue sky, making new friends, singing by the campfire, jumping into the refreshing pool, learning how to set up a campsite, fishing at the lake; each day is full of adventure. As a result, the YMCA Camp Weona culture and setting are safe, fun, and enriching physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. We recruit from local high schools and colleges, as well as all over the country and around the world. All staff participate in an intensive week-long residential training that includes safety management, working with children in group settings, leading activities, camp policies and procedures, and child abuse prevention. Necessary staff members are lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certified as well as other nationally-recognized certifications. YMCA Camp Weona takes the health and safety of our campers very seriously.

We have a 6:1 camper-to-leader ratio which assures close supervision of all activities. During the summer session a fulltime health officer lives on site and a physician is on call 24 hours a day. Also, YMCA Camp Weona is certified by the New York State Health Department and has periodic inspections throughout the summer. YMCA Camp Weona is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA is a non-profit organization that member camps join voluntarily. For nearly two decades, YMCA Camp Weona has been a member of this organization and on a semi-annual basis is visited by ACA, which verifies that we are maintaining over 300 standards of operation in camping. These are industry standards and recognized by the government.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Building on the tradition of “super” leadership, the YMCA believes in growing our future leaders as well as enhancing our teen population’s skill base. Leaders in Training (LIT) is geared toward teens who are ready to test their leadership skills while working with younger campers. All LITs must demonstrate the YMCA’s core values, have a service mentality, and strong desire to learn and grow leadership skills. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign provides financial assistance to families within our community who are in need of financial support and may not have the ability to pay the full fee. Financial assistance is determined based on a thorough review of an application and a personal interview with the applicant. Assistance will be granted on the basis of financial need resulting from low income, emergency expenses or other circumstances that inhibit an individual’s ability to pay a prescribed fee. At YMCA Camp Weona, our rustic cabins provide a home for small groups of no more than 12 campers who live together and attend daily activities as a group. Groups of 8-12 campers of similar gender and age attend daily activities together as a cabin with their leaders. The intention is to foster a “family-like” atmosphere within the group. Menu - Our back-to-basics menu is prepared each day in the dining hall. The YMCA offers items that children enjoy in their daily life that help sustain the additional energy needed during long days at camp. Our food service staff prides themselves on the fact that there are no trans fats in our meals. Special consideration is given for children who have allergies or prefer a vegetarian option.

Cabin/Bunk Mates - Campers may request a bunk mate within one school grade of each other, are of the same gender, and are registered for the same program. A bunk mate request is included in the parent pack and must be returned three weeks prior to attendance. Requests made after the three-week deadline may not be honored. In order to promote inclusion within each cabin, only one bunk mate request per child will be honored. (Bunk mates must be reciprocal – ex. John picks Tim and Tim must pick John.) We know that beyond the incredible activities and instruction at our kids overnight camp, it’s the time in between that really matters. That it’s bunk life, mealtime goofiness, camping sleepovers and just luxuriating in the simple pleasures of summer–that imprint enduring memories. When our alums visit, our biggest complement is when they tell us that nothing’s changed.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Our PGC staff are remarkable individuals with a passion to learn, grow, and impact others. There are three ways to get involved: be a volunteer coach, join our paid summer staff, or join our year-round team.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers stay in secure, clean, modern corridor-style residence halls dedicated to summer campers. Males and females are housed in separate buildings. When not in class or practice, students have lots of fun participating in a variety of recreational activities including outdoor games like "Capture the Flag" and "Ultimate Frisbee," indoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, hikes, relaxing and socializing at the village Coffee House and each camp closes with a farewell party the last night of their camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Each building is staffed by a Head Camp Counselor and 4 camp counselors who are are specially trained to serve as positive role models, mentors and friends. They provide out-of-classroom supervision throughout the week.

Our programs are staffed by distinguished members of the Alfred University faculty and advanced graduate students. Our sports camps are run by our head sports coaches who have all won distinguished awards in their sport. With Alfred University's excellence in teaching and coaching, along with their commitment to offering quality programming, these are among the most educational and fun summer programs in the country.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): At the end of our Equestrian camps there are shows put on for parents to enjoy the last day of camps. Check our website for specific information.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Cafeteria-style meals are served in the University's dining hall. Our Dining Service chefs do an excellent job in accommodating campers with food allergies and any other special requirements.
