BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Farmers Union summer camps attract more than 1,000 youth every year, making it one of the most popular summer activities anywhere in North Dakota. We design these camps to encourage our youth to emerge as a new generation of leaders.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
CAMP LOCATION: We have 2 locations, Heart Butte is just outside of Elgin located on Lake Tschida, and Jamestown is located on the Jamestown Reservoir. Both camp locations are located on water and have over 15 acres of land used for sports, education, arts and crafts, campfires and much more.
CAMP FACILITIES: Heart Butte is a rustic dorm style camp with a boys dorm and girls dorm. We have a main building which incorporates our programing, kitchen and eating areas. We have a secluded campfire area and a private beach for swimming and boating.
Jamestown is a state of the art facility with a main lodge including a full size gym/cafeteria, commons, camp store, game room and STEM classroom. We have a dorm building which includes 7 individual rooms for campers/staff and a main staff room.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: NDFU is a residential leadership camp that focuses on cooperative education. We have all the summer camp fun including swimming, sports, arts and crafts, games, campfire, rock wall climbing, mini golf, boating and more. We also have a camper run co-op store where campers sell snacks and drinks to fellow campers and learn how a cooperative runs. We offer junior camp for grades 3-6 and senior camp for grades 7-12. All staff is AED/CPR/First Aid certified and we have several certified Lifeguards on staff as well. All kitchen staff are ServSafe certified.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We offer camp scholarships to those in need.
