TechBridges is an innovative first-of-its-kind on-campus program held in one of the greatest cities in the world: New York City, High school students participate in exciting interactive activities in technology, design, and art while working together with students all around the world. Students develop 21st century skills such as technology literacy, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking while being exposed to eye-opening on-site field trips and talks from mentors and successful professionals.

Students who complete the program will have an advantage over other students because they will have a better understanding of global issues; enhanced skills for 21st century success, and relevant activities and a completed project that they can discuss in college applications. The agenda consists of interactive project-based workshops; teaching, training and guest lectures from industry professionals, ivy league professors and graduate students; on-location visits to technology labs or companies, and design, production and research activities that culminate into a final student project that involves designing and developing a game or interactive media that addresses a social issue or problem of their choice (e.g. environmental protection, public health, bullying, etc.).

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 25th Annual Fredonia Summer Music Festival has a long history of providing high school students (grades 9 - 12) with a friendly and relaxed setting for musical growth. Set on the beautiful campus of The State University of New York at Fredonia and housed in the university's School of Music, the Fredonia Summer Music Festival takes advantage of the campus' first-rate facilities and world-class teachers. Many of the festival faculty are also professors at the university. Outstanding performers and teachers provide unique opportunities for learning, improving technical skills and expanding musicality.

This year, the Festival continues its tradition of excellence while expanding to include a new Honors Solo Vocal Camp for students interested in further developing their skills as a solo classical vocalist. The Band Camp is open to instrumental music students (winds, brass, and percussion) with performance opportunities in large ensembles, chamber music, jazz and more. Students in both camps will attend daily musicianship classes, participate in master classes, attend special evening performances, and have time for individual practice and recreation. Together, the two camps offer students outstanding quality and exceptional value.

All students must submit completed registration form, available online, and a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 by May 15.

2015 Costs:
Resident - $750, which includes ensemble participation, all instruction (theory, musicianship, composition, etc), attendance at professional music performances and master classes, daily recreation, all meals and housing, and a camp t-shirt.

Non-Resident (Commuter) - $395, which includes all of the above except meals and housing (a meal package is also available) Commuter students are encouraged to participate in all social activities.

CAMP FACILITIES: At Timber Lake West, Campers live in modern, paneled cabins called bunks. Each bunk is equipped with full bathrooms and storage space for each camper's belongings. Three to four counselors and eight to ten campers make up each bunk.

Campers make their beds, care for their own belongings and practice good personal hygiene. Our professional housekeeping staff maintains and sanitizes the bathrooms daily. A complete packing list and Parents' Manual make the process of preparing for camp as easy and convenient as possible.

The cabin or bunk is where campers learn to live together as a group, to share and to respect each other. We see bunk living as the core of the camp experience - central to our mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Timber Lake West's unique four-week summer camp program offers children a place to make new friends, try new activities and grow as a person. We believe that camp has to be safe and it has to be fun. That's what Timber Lake West is all about. We take all the fun, spirit, excitement and tradition of a full season camp experience and power pack it into four weeks.

Our athletic program includes clinics, instruction, inter-camp tournaments, and plenty of games played just for fun. We create the right balance between competition and good sportsmanship, allowing every camper to be comfortable joining in, while also promoting teamwork and spirit. At Timber Lake West, winning is great but our goal is that every camper walks off the field or court with more friends and feeling better about him or herself.

HARDCORE ATHLETICS:
Hardcore Sports is designed to provide extra instruction and drills in various sports for those campers who elect to work with extra intensity on their skills. The work-out sessions are held during an elective or swim period for those campers yearning to improve their skills, practice for upcoming tournaments or play at a higher level of competition. These campers get a chance to work on their mechanics through drills, practicing game situations, improving their mental preparation, building self-esteem and getting into or staying in great physical shape.

Two periods each day are devoted to swimming and water sports. Our emphasis is on safety, instruction and fun. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provides special attention to improving swim skills with the main emphasis, of course, on safety. Timber Lake West's two heated pools set us apart from others. Our Olympic size pool makes free swim a favorite activity while our completely private spring-fed lake, right in the heart of camp, provides the thrill of water-skiing and an extensive boating program, featuring instruction in canoeing, kayaking, row boating, surf bikes, paddle bikes, banana boating and water skiing.

Adventure at Timber Lake West comes alive when our campers challenge themselves to try activities they have never done before. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, scaling our 35 foot climbing wall or soaring down our zip line, camp is meant to be an adventure.

Our low ropes course gives campers the opportunity to work together toward a common goal while building friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence.

As part of our program each bunk meets with our trained and experienced staff on our low ropes/team building course and on overnight camp outs. As a cohesive unit, the campers work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves at the beginning of the four week session.

Each day campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure oriented, and performing or creative arts electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and waterfront activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer program. With over thirty activities to choose from, our extensive electives feature experienced teachers and coaches to ensure that campers get the highest quality of instruction in the areas of their greatest interest:

Every Wednesday is uniquely programmed for our entire campus. After a well-deserved later wake-up and breakfast on our campus, campers head out to a special morning of electives. The afternoon is a scheduled activity! Dinner is our famed barbecue and then a special evening activity finishes out the day. EVENING ACTIVITIES:
Each evening is filled with a fun activity. Whether it's a “Broadway” production in our theatre, a campfire, masquerade social, outdoor games, contests or a late-night league game on one of our lighted courts, evening activities are among the best times of the day at Timber Lake West. Before bedtime, campers stop with friends at our Planet West Canteen, complete with snacks, Pop-a-Shot, ping pong, pool tables and air hockey.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen programs are strong and we’re proud that we continue to attract returning older campers year after year. In spite of all of the other choices that high school-aged children have in today’s world, the large majority of our campers choose to return to Timber Lake West all the way through the end of their Teen summers.

The Timber Lake West Teen Program begins with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp, more choice and flexibility daily, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Teens alternate between a two-day Whitewater Rafting trip or a two-day trip to Hershey/Dorney Parks.

Our Teens are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they choose a specialty area and an age group with which they think they might like to work. For several hours each week, they will be assigned to work with these groups so that they can get a feel for coming back as Junior Counselors.

We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared to be part of our staff!

OTHER CAMP INFO: It's been said that “teaching kids to count isn't nearly as important as teaching them what counts.” Camp offers the perfect environment to teach children important life lessons that the traditional academic environment just isn't designed to handle.

Under the careful guidance of trained camp professionals, children can learn and practice social skills at a level not offered in school.

While parents are the primary source of values education and character building, the job had been getting harder and harder as affluent lifestyles blur the lines of what really is and is not important. Camp offers an opportunity to reinforce what children are already learning at home.

Moreover, in the recreational setting that includes competitive sports, performing arts, and day-to-day bunk living with nine or ten peers and college-age counselors, children have a unique opportunity to learn, practice and test their values skills.”

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers stay in secure, clean, modern corridor-style residence halls dedicated to summer campers. Males and females are housed in separate buildings. When not in class or practice, students have lots of fun participating in a variety of recreational activities including outdoor games like "Capture the Flag" and "Ultimate Frisbee," indoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, hikes, relaxing and socializing at the village Coffee House and each camp closes with a farewell party the last night of their camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Each building is staffed by a Head Camp Counselor and 4 camp counselors who are are specially trained to serve as positive role models, mentors and friends. They provide out-of-classroom supervision throughout the week.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers reach Tanager by a three mile motor boat ride and sleep in tents by the lake shore and eat on open porches. We spend most of our days outdoors, while also enjoying activities in well-kept buildings and leantos built in traditional Adirondack style.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1925 Tanager Lodge has remained small and personal. With no road access or electricity and set apart from the technological world, the setting is ideal for fostering children's appreciation of nature and their connection to it. Life in Tanager's diverse, close-knit interdependent community gives campers and staff a special opportunity to be a valued part of something greater than themselves, which in turn encourages personal growth. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers enjoy a balanced schedule that includes group periods and choice periods each day. During group periods, campers participate in group activities that ensure group bonding and a well-rounded summer. Walden also has many exciting special days that differ from our regular schedule! Our campers enjoy awesome trip days to places such as Six Flags amusement park. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

1) Youth Academy - Designed for boys and girls ages 6-10. Fun, exciting and engaging activities are all part of the week. We do this with individual and small group activities with the introduction of fun technical exercises and games that are engaging and pertinent for the age group and ability level. With our unique curriculum youth players will be exposed to the proper technique such as shooting, dribbling, 1v1, crossing and much more.

2) Junior Academy - Designed for boys & girls, goalkeepers and field players ages 10-13. 4) College Prep Academy - Our goal is to provide an incredible environment where serious soccer players will be exposed to the highest level of instruction in anticipation of playing at the highest level possible. High Performance Seminars will be led by trusted experts in their field and will include: Sports Nutrition, Soccer Specific Conditioning, ACT/SAT Preparation and Sport Psychology. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign provides financial assistance to families within our community who are in need of financial support and may not have the ability to pay the full fee. Groups of 8-12 campers of similar gender and age attend daily activities together as a cabin with their leaders. The intention is to foster a “family-like” atmosphere within the group. CAMP FACILITIES: Students live in wooden cabins equipped with bunks, electricity, and limited storage space. Students are housed four to six per cabin (8:1; Counselor:Camper). CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Founded in 1980 by Philadelphia Orchestra cellist Bert Phillips and Steinway pianist Toby Blumenthal, Luzerne Music Center aims to provide world-class music instruction for passionate young people in a summer camp environment regardless of their financial circumstance. Musicians ages 9 to 18 come from all over the world to train at LMC's campus located in the foothills of New York’s Adirondack Park.

Since inception, LMC has maintained strong relations with musicians of the Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet. CAMP FACILITIES: Surprise Lake Camp is blessed with incredible natural beauty. Our camp sits on 500 beautiful wooded acres surrounded by an enormous expanse of undeveloped state parkland. Our sparkling, 30-acre lake is nestled between two rugged mountain ridges. It creates a vision of rustic beauty that dances in the heads of visitors years after they've been to camp. Additionally, we have miles and miles of gorgeous hiking trails with breathtaking views of the Hudson River, and beautiful campsites for cookouts and overnights. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Surprise Lake Camp has a rich history. It was founded in 1902 by the Educational Alliance to provide a summer vacation for Jewish boys from Main Building - 1920 the tenements of Manhattan's Lower East Side. In its first season, it had six tents for 25 campers and five counselors. One of the first campers was Eddie Cantor, who, upon achieving success as an entertainer, became one of the camp's most ardent supporters. Since then Surprise Lake Camp has served thousands of young people, many of whom have achieved prominence, among them, entertainer Neil Diamond, talk show host Larry King, actor Jerry Stiller, and former New York Attorney General Robert Abrams.

In 1911, the 92nd Street Y became partners in running the camp, and the camp office was located at the Y for many years. In 1917, when the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies was created, Surprise Lake Camp was one of the initial member agencies. The camp then became incorporated as a New York not-for-profit in 1920, eventually leading to complete independence from its founding agencies. Over the years, Surprise Lake Camp has been substantially rebuilt three times. In addition, its clientele and program have evolved as the Jewish community has changed. Originally established to provide summer vacations in the country for poor boys from the lower East Side, the camp has also gone through periods when it was dedicated to feeding undernourished boys, operated as a year-round camp which included formal education during the winter, committed to the personal development of children using a social group work model, and run as a general co-ed summer camp with special emphasis on scholarships.

CAMP FACILITIES: 30 cabins - including massive dining hall, extremely diverse program including daily Swim Instruction, nature, theater arts, skateboarding, tennis, archery, gymnastics, arts & crafts, ceramics, woodworking, fishing, karate, gaga, basketball, and dodgeball. Magnificent fields for soccer, softball, lacrosse, kickball, and football. An amazing waterpark and boating center makes our day camp better than most sleepaway programs!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our Executive Director Ken Glotzer has been directing the camp since it was founded in 1979, and wrote the first Master's program for camp leadership with the American Camp Association and Tuoro University. He also wrote a book titled "There Is No Place Like Camp", a guide for parents choosing a camp for the first time for their children.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CIT program. We have a special program for 9th and 10th graders (CIT program) to help them prepare to be a counselor in the future.

OTHER CAMP INFO: No day camp offers the diverse range of activities that Day Camp In The Park does. No day camp has the amount of certified teachers for each camper that we do. Door to door transportation is included in Manhattan and all of Rockland County, Bergen County, Westchester County & Orange County.
